Three years ago, a gathering in Johannesburg came together around a simple but profound question: Who gets to tell Afrika's story?
Afrotellers is a Pan-Afrikan storytelling movement building the ecosystem, infrastructure, and institutional power that Afrikan storytellers need to tell Afrika's stories on Afrikan terms.
What began as a conference has become a movement: eleven community hubs, more than 300 members, two continental conferences, and an institution taking shape. Explore who we are, where we have come from, the movement we are building, and the people behind it.
From a conference to a continental movement — where we have come from and why this work matters now.
